Course Overview

Welcome to Level 1 Food and Nutrition. This course offers 23 NCEA Achievement Standard credits.
The main emphasis of the course is the promotion of Food and Nutrition and practical skills in the kitchen. You will gain the necessary skills to make
decisions, plan, prepare, cook and present meals. During the year you will cover the topics of food safety, meal planning, influences on our food choices,
nutrients and their functions in the body, packaging and labelling, as well as healthy eating promotion and consumer information.

Achievement Standard 90961 “Demonstrate understanding of how packaging information influences an individual’s food choices and well-being” 1 4 Examination
(Practice + final) External Literacy Practice exam during school exams in week 10 of Term 3.
Final NCEA exam at end of year.
